Finally! A Star Wars film that does its own thing! That doesn't try to fill in or replicate old parts of the franchise but originate something new! A film that takes risks! That embraces change! That introduces the most ruthlessly adorable aliens since Ewoks! Rian Johnson's Star Wars: The Last Jedi is the breath of fresh air this franchise needs so badly. Everything from Luke and Leia's new Force powers to Rose Tico to Canto Bight to Kylo Ren's new backstory, all of this feels new and revitalized. Johnson could have made a film that sought to only placate old fans, but he decided to thumb his nose at those stuffy old guards and take the franchise where it needed to go. And why yes, I AM babbling on to increase my word count!
