Monster Shark: Lamberto Bava, Bruno Mattei

Back in the early days of Hollywood, directors tried to utilize a technique known as "invisible editing" wherein the transition from one shot to another was so subtle that the audience wouldn't notice it. I just wish that Lamberto Bava and Bruno Mattei could have tried to mimic this technique when they made Monster Shark, a painful migraine-inducer of a film that follows a hideous creature from the sea and its reign of terror along the Florida coastline. The result of a military experiment gone wrong, this part-octopus, part-prehistoric mega-fish is hunted by a team of scientists seeking to kill it before the military can get to it again. Unfortunately, the film's plot is difficult to follow thanks to poor pacing, abysmal special effects, and some of the most incompetent editing that I have ever seen. Monster Shark was one of the many nature-horror films that were made following the spectacular success of Steven Spielberg's Jaws (1975). Sadly, it is also one of the absolute worst. A toddler with his eyes closed could have shot and edited a better film than this.

2/10
