Blindman: Ferdinando Baldi
Ferdinando Baldi's Blindman is an ugly, chaotic, and unpleasant film. If you know anything about spaghetti Westerns, then you know that those are usually compliments. But in this case, they are not. Blindman is one of the worst spaghetti Westerns that I have ever seen. It deals with a blind gunslinger who has to escort 50 mail-order brides to a group of miners. Along the way, he encounters bandits and members of the Mexican army who all want his women and his life. This film makes no sense whatsoever. Characters appear without introductions and disappear almost instantly. All I could make out of this film was that the blind man was embroiled in a series of betrayals and gunfights as he tried to escort the women. Occasionally buildings will blow up and the blind man will kill groups of bandits like a cowboy Zatoichi. Oh, and Ringo Starr is a bad guy. But amazingly, this does little to improve the film. It is a noisy and brutish affair that is better passed on for better films.
