Bright: David Ayer

David Ayer's Bright could have honestly been an okay film. I loved it's urban fantasy universe, loved the idea of Magic Wands, and liked the production design of a world torn between humans and monsters. But here's the problem: Max Landis. The man has no concept for subtlety and even less for social justice. It blows wet, noisy raspberries at the #BLM movement and social justice activists in general, particularly with the now infamous line "Fairy Lives don't matter today!" I wish somebody with talent and finesse had written this screenplay.

5/10
