Let's be totally, brutally honest for a moment: Wallace & Gromit just aren't meant for feature length films. 30 minute short films are the best format for their adventures. Nick Park and Steve Box's Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit is proof of this. The film has moments of wild invention, unbridled joy, stunning creativity, and an honestly shocking plot twist that legitimately caught me off guard (the true identity of the Were-Rabbit). But the plot is simply stretched too thin. I'll give you an example: a bit where a smarmy British hunter interrupts a public debate or discussion with plans to exterminate the were-rabbit (which is then ignored by the townsfolk and Lady Campanula "Totty" Tottington) is repeated three or four times. Once is fine. Twice is stretching it. Any more than three is simply bad screenwriting. And I do think that a bad screenplay is to blame here. Park and Box's storytelling skills are excellent...when there is a story to tell.
6/10
