The Triplets of Belleville: Sylvain Chomet
[Revisit Review]
Sylvain Chomet's The Triplets of Belleville is one of the most human animated films that I have ever seen. This is due in no small part to the designs which transform even the most insignificant characters into exaggerated grotesques. In a strange way, this embraces and emphasizes the characters' humanity. The pantomimed storytelling was a brilliant touch that makes the film even more memorable than it would have been if it had used dialogue. And whatta soundtrack!
