The Hellcats: Robert F. Slatzer

Robert F. Slatzer's The Hellcats has all the energy and excitement of a Coleman Francis film on Quaalude. And is it any wonder considering the fact that it was produced by Anthony Cardoza, the man who also produced all of Francis' films? Regardless, The Hellcats is one of the most boring outlaw biker films that I have ever sat through. The film supposedly follows the wife of a murdered cop and his brother going undercover to infiltrate the drug-dealing biker gang, the eponymous Hellcats, responsible for his death. At least, that's what I think this film is about. The film is so unfocused (both figuratively and literally in some of the later scenes) that it meanders in and out of lucidity and coherence. At least half of this film has to be comprised of stock footage of bikers riding on the highway and partying. Like so many of Cardoza's films, The Hellcats is an endurance test. It drains you physically to the point of delirium.

3/10
