The Brainiac: Chano Urueta

What do I love most about Chano Urueta’s The Brainiac? The early scene where an astronomer and his girlfriend park a car in front of a literal picture of a space observatory? How the titular monster looks like it’s wearing a papier-mâché goat head with a long, snake-like tongue? The way the film tediously repeats the same paralyze/seduce/kill sequence 3-4 times? I'm not lying about that last part, by the way. The last two-thirds of the film feel like they played the same reel of film 3-4 times with only minor variations. The Brainiac is too boring to be camp, too campy to be gruesome.

3/10
